ABB Corporate Research, in close collaboration with its different business areas, is developing the foundations for the next generation of ABB products. We would like to give a motivated student an opportunity to complete a six-month internship with a multidisciplinary team at the Sensing and Analytics group of ABB.At ABB, we envisioned future port operations that are safer, more efficient, and more sustainable. To realize this future, we are developing advanced technological solutions that are based on various sensing modalities.During this internship, you will have an opportunity to work on different aspects of a system for port automation. The focus are machine learning algorithms for object detection. You will work with synthetic and real-world data from various sensors (e.g., LIDAR).
This position reports to
R&D Engineer
Your responsibilities
- Get familiar with the current problems and explore possible solutions.
- Get familiar with the existing data and the existing data acquisition pipeline
- Contribute to the design, development, implementation, and validation of novel object detection algorithms
Your background
- Master student in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Official enrollment is essential
- Solid understanding of the following scientific fields:
- machine learning and computer vision
- Experience with Python and PyTorch is required. Experience with ROS2 and Gazebo is a plus.
- Fluent command of English, both written and spoken
- Availability for six months (start and end dates are open for discussion)
- Non-EU/EFTA citizens, please note that a certificate from your university, showing that an internship is a mandatory part of your studies, is required for the visa application
