Technical Support Manager
Your role and responsibilities
You will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of UNITROL® digital products and services within ABB Energy Industries Switzerland, serving customers both in Europe and globally. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in electrical engineering, IT, and data science to enhance the digital portfolio of the excitation system segment, while also executing customer projects and providing support in the digital domain.

This role is contributing to the Energy Industries division in Switzerland.
Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as the primary contact for customers regarding digital product updates, vulnerabilities, security patches, and feature enhancements. Address engineering queries related to IoT, AI, machine learning, and cybersecurity projects as well as collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
• Participate in the R&D team to support machine learning and AI solutions applied to live datasets (time series and events) for condition monitoring, proactive maintenance, live optimizations, and smart recommendations.
• Support local engineering centers and customer projects in the power systems and digital domains.
• Contribute to the overall business and sales strategy for digital products by participating in brainstorming sessions and occasionally delivering customer presentations. Additionally, conduct internal and external training and support related to digital products and the digital twin business of the excitation segment.
Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree from a top-tier technical university/polytechnic school in electrical engineering, physics, mathematics, data science, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of cloud computing solutions from major providers (AWS, MS Azure, Google Cloud), with a preference for experience with MS Azure. Familiarity with client-server technologies (web development) is also required.
- Experience with products/solutions in at least one of the following domains: Internet of Things, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or cybersecurity.
- Proficiency in data science and engineering software such as Python is highly valued.
- Domain expertise from previous experience in power systems, the power generation market, and electrotechnical modeling.
- A collaborative team member with sensitivity to the commercial and strategic aspects of the business, excellent communication skills, and a strong desire to learn and grow within the specific domain.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in additional languages (German, French, or Italian) is advantageous.
